Super 8 surges ahead of the pack to lead the Box Office Ticket Sales: June 10-12, 2011

Super 8 projects the life of Steven Spielberg and his good friend George Lucas. The movie captures the movie magic experience.

Super 8 projected the childhood lives of Steven Spielberg and his good friend George Lucas. For the most part, the movie captured the movie magic experience that resembled the executive producer's movie career. Super 8 took a hold of the competition, delivering a first place finish in box office ticket sales during June 10-12 weekend. The sci-fi movie collected $35.5 million in ticket sales to deliver a solid showing.

In second place, X-Men: First Class held firm in its second weekend in release with $24.1 million in ticket sales. In the next few days, the X-Men movie will cross the $100 million mark. The over-the-top comedy Hangover Part II outperformed Kung Fu Panda, earning $17.7 million in ticket sales to place a cool third. Kung Fu Panda 2 scored $16.5 million in ticket sales to place fourth. The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides took the fifth spot, collecting $11 million in ticket sales to bring its total ticket gross to $208.9 million.

The rated R chick flick Bridesmaids continued to remain competitive among female moviegoers with $10.1 in ticket sales to project the movie into sixth place. Judy Moody and not the Bummer Summer collected $6.1 million in its first weekend in release, positioning the movie in the seventh spot.
Thor and Fast Five are still hanging around, making $2.4 million and $1.7 million, respectively.

Fast Five passed the $200 million mark last weekend, certifying the action-packed race car movie as a major blockbuster. Thor is likely to miss out on the $200 million mark. Nonetheless, the comic book hero managed to make a cool $173 million to date.
